Spittoon Monthly, our new online fiction and poetry series, is seeking English-language fiction and poetry to be published in a monthly literature column. We will publish only one exceptional story or one set of poems each month.
Starting with the Issue 4, to be released on June 30, our print magazine will be dedicated to translating a diverse range of the best new Chinese writing. As such, the only English-language submissions it will accept are those of non-fiction about Chinese arts and culture.
We are now excited to announce that our website will publish English fiction and poetry online and will accept submissions on a rolling basis. We’ll soon begin featuring (your!) new fiction or poetry every month on our new-and-improved website, which launches at the end of June.
Our editors will do their best to reply to your submission within one week.
Fiction submissions should be less than 4000 words.
Poetry submissions should be 3-5 poems of no more than 10 pages.
Original translations into English with permission of the author are also welcomed.
